A new software update is reported for Huawei Mate 20 Pro, which includes the smartphone DC Dimming Feature. At the end of June, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro has recently updated EMUI 9.1. The latest version of EMUI was published alongside the launch of Huawei’s P30 series. Huawei has this Android 9 Pie user interface with a number of impressive features, such as the EROFS file system, GPU Turbo 3.0 and Moon camera mode.
As part of the new update, EMUI 9.1.0.136, as IThome reported, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is getting the DC dimming feature in China, for now. This feature was recently seen in flagship devices such as OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. This function was also implemented in Huawei by a software update in the P30 Pro. This feature was too incorporated into the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T in a beta build.
This DC Dimming feature represents an alternative to PWM (Puls-Width Modulation) that varies the light pulse’s width to reduce the screen’s brightness. In contrast, DC Dimming lowers the panel voltage and it is known to decrease the eye strain for sensitive people.
Only Smartphones that use an AMOLED display can be provided with the DC Dimming feature. You can find the following in Settings > Display > Eye Comfort > FLICKER Reduction if you are given an update of the EMUI 9.1.0.136 in your Mate 20 Pro.
The software update is presently being implemented for Mate 20 Pro units purchased in China. However, we are expecting it to hit Mate 20 Pro smartphones across the world.
